Pneumatic Tape Feeders feature a built-in LED status indicator to help operators quickly monitor the feeder’s working status.
1, LED OFF: The feeder is not powered, meaning no power is supplied to the unit.
2, Solid Green: The feeder is Normal (Ready) Status, indicating it it powered on, connected, and ready for production.
3, Flashing Green: The feeder is not connected to the CAN Master. THis status usually means a communication issue between the feeder and the machine controller.
4, Solid Orange: The feeder is in feeding (Busy) status, actively performing parts supply during production.
5, Flashing Orange: The feeder is in Warning status, indicating a non-critical issue that requires attention but does not stop production immediately.
6, Solid Red: The feeder is in Error status, indicating a critical fault that stops the feeding process and requires troubleshooting.
Proper storage of your SM tape feeders is critical to protecting their components, extending service life, and ensuring consistent performance in SMT production. Follow these key rules to avoid damage, deformation, or premature wear.
1, Do Not Stack Feeders Directly
Never stack tape feeders on top of one another or perform reel replacement while feeders are stacked. This practice can cause mechanical stress, cmponent deformation, or permanent damage to internal parts.
2, Avoid High-Temperature and High-Humidity Environments
Do not store feeders in locations with high humidity or where temperatures exceed 40°C (104°F). Excessive heat and moisture can lead to:
– Rust or corrosion on metal components
– Dew condensation that damages the driving mechanism
– Malfunctions or failures in the electronic circuits1. Avoid Magnetized Environments
3, Do not store feeders near sources of magnetism.
Magnetization in the component pick-up area can disrupt smooth component feeding, leading to production errors. Keep feeders away from magnets or magnetized equipment.
4. Keep Away from Oil & Organic Solvents
Store feeders in a clean, dry area free from oil, grease, or organic solvents. Exposure to these substances can damage the feeder’s mechanical parts and contaminate components on the reel, resulting in PCB quality issues.
5. Prevent Collision & Physical Impact
Avoid collisions between feeders or with other objects during handling and storage. Even minor impacts can cause invisible damage, degrading performance or leading to premature failure.
6. Avoid Vibration
Do not store feeders in areas with severe vibration. Continuous vibration can loosen internal connections, damaging the driving mechanism and electronic circuits.
7. Keep Feeders in Dust-Free Conditions
Store feeders in a low-dust environment. Dust buildup inside the feeder can interfere with moving parts and sensors, causing operational malfunctions.
Store your SM feeders in a cool, dry area to protect both mechanical and electronic parts from environmental degradation.
Proper handling of your SM-series pneumatic tape feeder is essential to maintaining performance, extending service life, and avoiding downtime. Follow these key safety and handling rules:
1. Safe Moving & Transport
When moving the tape feeder, always hold it by the dedicated handle. Never carry multiple feeders with one hand, as they may fall, causing damage to the equipment or injury to personnel.
2. Careful Disassembly & Handling of Joints
Handle all feeder joints with care. Improper disassembly or rough handling can compromise the feeder’s performance and functionality, voiding operational guarantees.
3. Protect Electronic Circuit Covers & Wiring
Handle the electronic circuit board cover and wiring with extreme care. Careless disassembly can lead to malfunctions and unreliable performance.
4. Clean Air Supply Requirements
Only supply clean, dry, filtered compressed air to the feeder. Contaminated air containing dust, oil particles, or moisture can severely damage internal components and degrade performance.
5. Safe Terminal Handling
Keep terminals clean and undamaged. Foreign matter on terminals can cause operational failures, while connecting to an incompatible power supply may permanently damage the feeder.
6. Preserve the Serial Number Plate
Protect the serial number plate from damage or loss. Without a legible serial number, after-sales service and warranty support may be unavailable.
7. Reel Plate Handling
Never force-bend the reel plate while the feeder is installed in the feeder base. This will deform the plate, causing feeding errors and preventing smooth feeder replacement.
